Officers responded to Washington Street in Peekskill for a report of a robbery around 7:30 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 28, said Peekskill Police Lt. Jack Galusha.
After a brief interview with the victim police found that a wallet with approximately $1,000 had been taken from inside the unlocked vehicle, Galusha said.
The suspect fled east on South Street and was not caught.
Galusha said the department is actively investigating the case.
